The Comparative Value of Different Gold Preparations in the Treatment of Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Gold has been used in the treatment of tuberculosis from time immemorial. Reference to it is found in the Vedas and the two great physicians, Charak and Sushruta, have advocated its use in their books. Even to-day, it is used by Ayurvedic physicians in different forms. The irtroduction of gold in the treatment of tuberculosis according to the western system of medicine may, however, be said to date from the time of Koch's investigations on the tubercle bacillus.
